Single program access to all central systems
Only WinLink allows you to utilize the resources of different host computers - without having to buy a number of application programs. One simple installation of only one program means cost savings trough ease of maintenance and ease of use on a daily basis.
All platforms versions in a single program
The administrative nightmare of supporting multiple Windows versions in an organization is finally curtailed. Multiple versions means multiple different applications which again translates into higher maintenance costs. WinLink covers all platforms and versions! The installation program will automatically select the optimal solution (16/32-bit version) for each client. The server installation is done only once - independent of which platform or version the end-user has.
Integrating the local desktop and central host systems Utilize the possibilities for integrating data on the host computer and the PC. Cut and paste, file transfer (FTP, Kermit, Z-modem, etc) are just some of the initial steps towards a more efficient working day. With Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) you can present centralized data in Excel, or other popular desktop tools. You can use WiLL, the built-in script language, to automate routines and develop your own integrated solutions.
Printing
The slave printer functionality in WinLink means that applications on the host can send print jobs to the terminal emulation module in WinLink. WinLink will send the print job to the locally defined printer.
The Line Printer Daemon module (LPD) in WinLink allows the host system itself to send print jobs via WinLink XP 8.5 SSL for printing on the PC network.
Communication
You can use WinLink with your existing TCP/IP or use the TCP/IP that comes with WinLink which is a complete TCP/IP stack developed according to the Winsock 1.1 specifications. This means that WinLink TCP/IP can be used together with for example mail systems and Client/Server applications. In addition, WinLink has excellent support for modem users and includes a built-in telephone directory.
WinLink supports all network clients. Whether you are using Lan Manager, NetWare or another platform. you will benefit from the functionality in WinLink.
